This session will introduce the foundational principles of electricity and explore how engineers harness electrical energy to power homes, buildings, transportation systems, and essential utilities. Industry leader Kisa Caruthers will guide participants through the core applications of electricity, offering insights into its real-world uses and engineering design.

Kisa Caruthers is an accomplished licensed electrical engineer. With over 27 years of engineering experience, she has designed electrical systems for both new and renovated building projects across the United States and internationally. Her expertise includes designing low- and medium-voltage systems for various buildings, facilities, institutions, plants, and electric transportation infrastructure with the 3 recent years in project management. Currently, Kisa serves as a senior electrical engineer and project manager for the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Programs business line at Burns & McDonnell.
