Policy for Outdoor Exhibits

Science City’s outdoor science playground, Simple Machines At Play, follows inclement weather policies to ensure the safety of our guests and staff, which is paramount.

The outdoor area will close during the following inclement weather conditions:

We monitor local weather information and advisories via the National Weather Service at www.weather.gov

  • Heat Index above 110 degrees F
  • Temperature below 10 degrees F
  • Any time snow, rain, wind, ice, or other conditions are deemed unsafe
  • Tornado or Severe Thunderstorm Warnings, including lightning strikes within 8 miles
